Caesar si viveret, ad remum dareris.

so friends,

what is wisdom, and why are we to seek it?

Wisdom is the realization that a will exists that is higher than one's own. This can come in the form of parents, teachers, policemen, and most of all God. Of course, there is more to it than that, but that's what I have right now.

i did a study of proverbs this past week and answered my own question.

Wisdom is based on the fear of the LORD and deals with the "art of living." (from an introductory note)

I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion. To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech. Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have understanding and power. By me kings reign and rulers make laws that are just; by me princes govern, and all nobles who rule on earth. I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me. With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity. My fruit is better than gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver. I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice, bestowing wealth on those who love me and making their treasures full.
Proverbs 8:12-21

Then it goes into a beautiful discourse describing how wisdom was with God when the world began, as the "craftsman at his side."

conclusion: seek wisdom because God is wise (you can't go wrong imitating Him), plus it sure comes with a lot of perks.
